Evaluation Department

Evaluation Department is one of the Departments in the Ministry headed by a Director, two Deputy Directors, a Registrar of Examinations, four Assistant Directors, one Chief Education Officer, One Senior Education Officer and one supporting staff. The Department has a unit called the Examinations Unit which serves as an engine room of the Department in charge of all the State-controlled examinations, issuance and confirmation of Primary Six Leaving Certificates, Teachers’ Grade Two Certificates and so on are handled.


Objectives
The Department has 5 objectives:

Screening/Placement Exercise for Primary Six Pupils (Public and Approved Private Schools) transiting into Public Junior Secondary Schools One in the State.

Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for JSS3 Students transiting to SS1 in both Public and Private Secondary Schools in the State.

Joint Promotion Examinations for Senior Secondary School Students 1 & 2 in Public Secondary Schools in the State.

Joint Mock Examinations for SS 3 Students in Public Secondary Schools in the State.

Compulsory Examination for Civil Servants, Local Government Staff and Others in Comparative Positions.

Collection of enrolment of pupils from Approved Private and Public Primary Schools in the State.
Distribution of Schedule of entries (Edu 12) forms to various primary Schools through the LIEs.

Submission of Schedule of entries (Edu 12) forms to the Service Providers.
Conduct of the exercise.
Collection of OMR Sheets for Screening/Placement exercise from various Local Government Areas, which were handed over to the Service Provider for further necessary actions.

Collection of the list with photocopies of 1st term class attendance registers of JS 3 students in both Public and Private Secondary Schools
Collection of Schedules A, B and C (Registration, years 1,2 and 3 Continuous Assessments core sheets), in preparation for Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Generation and moderation of items
Distribution of collating sheets for the collection of subjects’ analysis on a school basis.
Collection of list with photocopies of 2nd term class attendance registers of JS 2 students in both Public and Private Secondary Schools in preparation for the new academic session.
Conduct of the Examination
Processing of Candidates’ Results
Release and collection of Candidates’ Results by Schools via the Local Inspectors of Education across the Thirty-Three (33) Local Government Area
Attending to various complaints emanating from the released results
Issuance of candidates’ BECE Certificates
Joint Mock Examination for SS 3 Students and Joint Promotion Examination for SS I and SS 2 Students in Public Secondary Schools in State.
The test instruments for Joint Mock Examination were generated, moderated and handed over to the most senior PS/ Inspector General of Education in order to commence further necessary actions.
Conduct of Joint Mock Examination.
The results of the Joint Mock Examination will be collected from the Schools through the LIEs.
Data on subjects’ basis for SS 1 and SS 2 Students in Public Secondary Schools were collected and collated
The test instruments for Joint Promotion Examinations for SS1 and SS2 students were generated, moderated and handed over to the most Senior Zonal Inspector of Education in order to commence further necessary actions.
Conduct of Joint Promotion Examination for SS1 and SS2.
Collection of analysis of results of students from the schools’ Principals through the PS/ IGEs
Stakeholders meeting to determine bench mark/criteria for promotion into another class
Release of candidates’ results
Data on subjects’ basis for The list of students promoted to SS 1 and SS 2 classes in Public schools for the next academic session will be collected from the Schools through the LIEs in order to adequately plan for the new academic year.SS 1 and SS 2 Students in Public Secondary Schools were collected and collated
